Umi Salamah yang mendapatkan penghargaan langsung dari Prabowo itu melihat era kepemimpinan Prabowo menggambarkan komitmen pemerintah dalam memperkuat dunia pendidikan, khususnya pendidikan non-formal yang selama puluhan tahun ia geluti.
“Tadi saya mendengarkan sendiri pidatonya, Beliau keren. Sungguh keren, aduh,” ujar Umi Salamah usai menerima penghargaan.
Umi Salamah menyambut baik pesan Prabowo yang menekankan bahwa pendidikan tidak hanya berfokus pada proses mengajar, tetapi juga pembentukan karakter peserta didik.
“Menurut saya dunia pendidikan itu kunci, tapi pendidikan itu tidak sekadar mengajar, tapi mendidik. Guru itu harus mendidik mulai dari diri sendiri dulu,” tegas Umi.
Umi turut menyoroti pentingnya keteladanan dalam dunia pendidikan, sebagaimana disampaikan dalam pidato Prabowo, seraya menegaskan kembali pengalamannya mengajar selama puluhan tahun.
Umi berharap arah kebijakan pendidikan yang disampaikan Prabowo dapat membawa perubahan nyata bagi pendidikan di Indonesia.
