Menteri Koordinator Bidang Pembangunan Manusia Pratikno menyampaikan bahwa sejak awal seluruh unsur pemerintah telah bergerak cepat pemberian bantuan di bawah arahan langsung Prabowo.
“Sejak hari pertama terjadinya bencana, Bapak Presiden sudah perintahkan kepada kami, tim PMK, langsung bergerak dibantu TNI, Polri, Pemda aktif. Dan untuk tanggap darurat itu, tenda-tenda pengungsian, terus makanan dengan segala kebutuhan sehari-hari sudah dikirim,” jelas Pratikno.
Senada dengan Menko PMK, Sekretaris Kabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya turut menyampaikan bahwa pengerahan pesawat dilakukan atas perintah Prabowo yang disampaikan semalam.
“Jadi, pagi, sekitar pukul setengah delapan pagi, telah diberangkatkan atas instruksi langsung Bapak Presiden tadi malam kepada seluruh jajaran terkait, untuk memberangkatkan pagi ini empat pesawat. Tiga pesawat Hercules, kemudian satu pesawat sapporo88 yang awal bulan ini tiba di Tanah Air, untuk terbang ke tiga provinsi yang terdampak bencana,” tuturnya.
Pesawat-pesawat tersebut yang membawa bantuan akan berangkat menuju Padang (Sumatera Barat), Bandara Silangit (Sumatera Utara) untuk mendukung wilayah Tapanuli, serta Banda Aceh dan Lhokseumawe (Aceh Utara) sebagai titik terdekat ke lokasi terdampak.
